The Order of Saint Augustine is a truly international brotherhood, currently serving the People of God in 49 countries around the world. Our global presence is a living witness to our mission to bring the Good News to all creatures and to transform the world from within through the values of the Gospel inspired by the teachings of our Holy Father Saint Augustine.

A Brotherhood Organized for Service

To carry out our apostolic mission effectively, our Order is organized into geographical units known as circumscriptions. This structure ensures that our communities remain rooted in the local culture while staying intimately connected to the universal Augustinian family.

The Order recognizes three primary types of circumscriptions:

​

• Provinces: The major circumscriptions of the Order, governed by a Prior Provincial. A province is a grouping of friars and several houses that forms a distinct part of the Order .

​

• Vicariates: Lesser circumscriptions governed by a regional vicar. These are typically established in regions where there is a well-founded hope of the community growing into a full province.

​

• Delegations: These consist of friars and houses in more distant areas where immediate governance is entrusted to a delegated superior.

 

Unity Beyond Borders

While we are organized into various jurisdictions, we remain "one body under our father, Saint Augustine". Because our mission is to build the Body of Christ without regard for national boundaries, you may notice that our administrative map does not always match political borders. Many of our Provinces encompass two or even three different countries, allowing us to share resources, personnel, and spiritual graces across borders to better serve those in need.

Wherever you find an Augustinian community, you will find a "house of God" where brothers and sisters live harmoniously, united by a single soul and a single heart intent upon God
