The Holy Father has appointed Fr. Márcio Antonio Vidal de Negreiros OSA as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of São Paulo

The General Secretariat is pleased to announce that the Holy Father has appointed Rev. Fr. Márcio Antônio Vidal de Negreiros, O.S.A., of the Province of Nossa Senhora da Consolação do Brasil, as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of São Paulo, Brazil.

On behalf of the Prior General and the entire Order, we express our sincere congratulations to Father Márcio on this important appointment in the service of the Church.
We accompany him with our prayers and fraternal affection, wishing him a fruitful ministry in the new responsibility entrusted to him by the Holy Father.
Biografical sketch
Fray Márcio was born on October 8, 1967, in Dois Córregos (Brazil). He made his simple profession on January 19, 1991, and his solemn profession on December 16, 1993. He was ordained a priest on November 5, 1994.
From February 1995 to December 2002, he worked as a formator and vocation promoter at the Seminário Santo Agostinho in Bragança Paulista (SP). He then served as pastor of the Paróquia Cristo Redentor in Barreiro de Cima, Belo Horizonte (MG) from 2003 to 2006 and as parochial vicar of the same community from 2007 to 2010. During that period, he also served as a formator and vocation promoter.
He was novice master of the Augustinian international novitiate in Lima, Peru, from 2015 to 2019. Subsequently he was provincial councilor between 2019 and 2023 and parish priest in solidum of the Paróquia Santo Agostinho, in Belo Horizonte, during the same period.
In April 2023, during the 20th General Assembly of OALA held in Moroleón (Mexico), he was elected secretary general for the four-year period 2024-2028. He is currently also vice president of the Sociedade Inteligência e Coração (SIC). Since 2024, he has resided in the community of Bragança Paulista (SP).
