Organization of Augustinians in Europe (OAE)

The Organization of Augustinians of Latin America (OALA) is the communion of Augustinian circumscriptions in Latin America and the Caribbean, rooted in the charism and spirituality of Saint Augustine and expressed through fraternal life, ecclesial service, and committed engagement with the peoples of the continent. Born from a long missionary history that began in the sixteenth century and renewed in the light of the Second Vatican Council, OALA seeks to strengthen unity among Augustinians while responding creatively and prophetically to the social, cultural, and ecclesial realities of the region.

Founded in 1968, OALA fulfills a threefold mission: a critical mission, discerning the signs of the times with a prophetic spirit; a mission of animation, fostering communion, encouragement, and fidelity to the local Churches; and a mission of coordination, bringing together Augustinians beyond juridical boundaries to serve the common mission of the Church. Through education, pastoral ministry, social commitment, and integral formation, OALA promotes an Augustinian presence that is attentive to the poor, open to dialogue with cultures, and faithful to the Gospel.

We invite visitors to explore the life and mission of OALA, to learn more about its history and initiatives, and to connect with the Augustinian circumscriptions that form part of this vibrant regional communion by visiting the OALA website.
