Federation of Augustinians in North America

The Federation of Augustinians in North America (FANA) brings together the Augustinian friars of North America in a spirit of communion, shared mission, and collaborative leadership. Established by the Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine, FANA unites the three major Augustinian Provinces in the United States—Saint Thomas of Villanova (East), Our Mother of Good Counsel (Midwest), and Saint Augustine (West)—together with representation from Canada, in order to strengthen and renew the Augustinian presence in the region.

Through a common structure of dialogue and cooperation, FANA promotes collaboration in key areas such as vocations, initial and ongoing formation, community life, lay partnership, and ministerial commitments. The Federation also fosters fraternity through joint initiatives and convocations, providing spaces for prayer, reflection, and shared discernment on the challenges facing the Church and society today.

By coordinating efforts across provincial boundaries, FANA enables Augustinians in North America to respond more effectively to their mission through education, parish ministry, pastoral outreach, and service to the wider community. The Vicar General of the Order of Saint Augustine and Assistant for North America, Father Joseph Farrell, accompanied by the Assistant General, Father Ian Wilson, carried out the second part of their renewal visit to the Province of Villanova Representing the Prior General, both fathers held meetings with the Augustinians of Villanova, first from December 8 to 22, and now, from February 28 to March 6. Chicago provincial visits Pacasmayo community in Chulucanas vicariate after floods

Midwest Provincial Fr Tony Pizzo attended the annual Assembly of the Vicariate of San Juan de Sahagún de Chulucanas from 8-14 January. The meeting in Trujillo, Peru, provided the opportunity to witness and discuss the current state of play of the communities of friars and the various apostolic works that are being carried out from the vicariate.
