Economo General

The Treasurer General is responsible for the administration of the temporal goods of the entire Order, operating under the direction of the Prior General and the General Council.

• Financial Management: Their primary duty is to care for the Order's assets, provide for the needs of the general curia, and promote finances in a way that serves the best interests of the Church .

• Expert and Advisor: They must be highly skilled in financial matters so they can offer technical advice to the Prior General and Council regarding provincial financial questions .

• Reporting: The Treasurer General must present an accurate report of the financial state of the Order to the General Chapter and provide annual accounts and estimates to the General Council.

Common Administrative Principles

Both officials share several characteristics in how they operate within the Order’s central structure:

• Appointment: Both are appointed (or in the case of the Treasurer, elected) at the time of the Ordinary General Chapter.

• Participation in the Council: While both participate in Council sessions when matters pertaining to their expertise are discussed, they generally have the right to speak but not to vote (except during the General Chapter itself) .
