Organization of Augustinians in Europe (OAE)

The Organization of Augustinians in Europe (OAE) is the structure of coordination and collaboration that brings together the Augustinian circumscriptions of Europe at a decisive moment in the continent’s history. In a context marked by profound social, cultural, and spiritual transformation—shaped by secularization, demographic change, migration, and economic and political uncertainty—OAE offers a shared space for discernment and common action, faithful to the Augustinian call to live “of one heart and one soul intent upon God.”

As a continental communion, OAE seeks to help the Augustinians of Europe read the signs of the times with faith and hope, strengthening unity while respecting the autonomy of each circumscription. It promotes collaboration in essential areas such as initial and ongoing formation, shared apostolic initiatives, economic and personnel solidarity, and the cultivation of Augustinian culture and spirituality through study, dialogue, and common projects.

Today, the Augustinian presence coordinated within OAE extends across Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Malta, Austria, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Belgium, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. Within these diverse cultural and ecclesial contexts, OAE encourages shared reflection and coordinated responses so that the Augustinian charism may continue to serve the Church and society in Europe with renewed vitality and prophetic witness.
