Sister Veronica Gemma Maria's first profession: a brief chronicle of her “yes” to the Lord's fidelity

ree

On May 31, 2025, Verónica Gemma Maria Vulcano, born in Rossano Calabro (CS), made her first temporary profession of the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience in the Order of Saint Augustine, at the Monastery of Santi Quattro Coronati in Rome.

The celebration took place in the presence of family, friends, and sisters of the community, on the liturgical solemnity of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary—a sign of a life devoted to encounter, praise, and service.

The blessing of the religious habit was imparted by His Excellency Monsignor Maurizio Aloise, bishop of Verónica Gemma’s home diocese, Rossano-Cariati, thus making visible the bond between the local Church from which Sister Verónica comes and the monastic family.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr. Javier Pérez Barba, General Assistant of the Order of Saint Augustine, who offered all those present a profound and enlightening homily, helping them grasp the ecclesial and spiritual meaning of Augustinian contemplative life.

On the previous night, in the monastery church, a prayer vigil was held in preparation for the day of the profession. During the vigil, the Word of God, silence, and hymns accompanied the community and the faithful in invoking the Holy Spirit.

The booklet of the vigil can be downloaded at the following link:

With her temporary profession, Sister Verónica has embarked on the path of sequela Christi in religious life, according to the Rule of Saint Augustine, in fraternal communion and the pursuit of unity in charity.

We entrust her "yes" to the Lord’s faithfulness and to the Church’s prayers, so that she may grow each day in the joy of consecration.
