The Order of Saint Augustine (OSA) and the Order of Augustinian Recollects (OAR) have presented the audiobook of Saint Augustine’s Confessions — a joint initiative of the Augustinian Family that is being released today, April 23, 2026, on World Book Day and on the eve of the anniversary of the conversion of the Saint of Hippo, April 24th.
The work, available on digital platforms, constitutes the first complete Spanish-language audio edition of this classic of Christian literature. Beyond its cultural dimension, the project was conceived with a distinct ecclesial and charitable character: all proceeds generated will be donated to the Office of Papal Charities to support the charitable works of Pope Leo XIV.

Amparo Latre, Director of Communications for the OSA Spanish Province of San Juan de Sahagún, and Fray Alfonso Davila, OAR, Director of Communications for the Order of Augustinian Recollects, led a press conference in Madrid to inaugurate this joint venture of the Augustinian Family (OSA, OAR, and FAE, the Federation of Augustinians in Spain). In a sinodal spirit of bringing together the voices, talents and hearts of religious and lay women and men to speak Augustine's words anew, this venture also reaches out in charity and solidarity by assuring that all proceeds will be donated to the Papal Almoner, Bishop Luis Marin de San Martin, OSA, for the charitable work of the Holy Father.

“The Confessions is not an ancient book; it is a conversation that Saint Augustine continues to hold with every reader. To bring it to audiobook form is, quite simply, to restore to it the voice with which it was written.” Fr. Joseph Farrell, OSA, Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine

“The fact that the OSA and the OAR are publishing this audiobook together is a source of familial joy. And that its proceeds will go into the hands of Pope Leo XIV for the benefit of the poor is, for us, the most Augustinian way to celebrate this edition.” Fr. Miguel Ángel Hernández, OAR — Prior General of the Order of Augustinian Recollects

“We have safeguarded this text for generations. To see it now released into the air—accessible to anyone with a mobile phone—is the finest confirmation that tradition is not a museum, but a living stream.” Spanish Augustinian Federation (FAE)
