It is with great joy and profound thanksgiving to God that we announce the appointment of Rev. Fr. Komi Domefa Brice Akagbo, O.S.A. as Provincial Superior of the Augustinian Province of Belgium. This appointment was made on 26 March 2026 by Father Joseph Farrell, O.S.A, the Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine, with the consent of his Council, and will take effect at the opening of the Ordinary Provincial Chapter in July 2026.
Born on 13 November 1982, Fr. Brice has allowed his vocation to mature through a path of consecration, formation, and service. After an initial stage of religious life within the Congregation of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, he entered the Order of Saint Augustine, where he made his solemn profession in 2019 and was ordained to the priesthood on 4 July 2020. Since then, he has carried out with fidelity and generosity various responsibilities in the areas of formation, community life, and pastoral ministry, both in Belgium and in Togo.
This news is a cause of gratitude for all of us. In a particular way, it is also a sign of hope for the mission in Togo, where Fr. Brice is presently serving with dedication and generosity. In this appointment, we recognize a sign of trust, continuity, and hope for the future of our Province and for the path of growth that the Lord is calling us to walk together.
We also wish to express our sincere gratitude to Fr. Jean-Paul Django Diby, O.S.A., who has accompanied the Province in recent months as Provincial Vicar, with fidelity and a strong sense of responsibility, during an important period of transition.
Since September 2025, when Fr. Martin Davakan, O.S.A. was elected Assistant General of the Order of Saint Augustine, a new phase began for our Province. With the appointment of Fr. Brice, we welcome this new chapter in our provincial history with faith, trust, and inner peace.
We entrust Fr. Brice to the prayers of all. May the Lord grant him wisdom, humility, courage, serenity, and joy in this new responsibility at the service of the brothers and of the mission. May Saint Augustine intercede for him and for our entire Province, so that we may live ever more deeply as one in mind and heart on the way to God.
