FR. ANTHONY BANKS, OSA – newly elected Prior Provincial - Australasia

We are pleased to share that Fr. Anthony Banks OSA has been elected Prior Provincial of the Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel–Australasia.

His election will be formally confirmed at the Provincial Chapter this June. We warmly congratulate Fr. Tony and assure him of our support as he takes up this responsibility in service of the Province and the wider Church.

Fr. Tony brings a wealth of experience to the role of Prior Provincial. A long-standing member of the Province of Our Mother of Good Counsel–Australasia, his ministry has spanned parish leadership, education, and international service.

Most notably, Fr. Tony served as an Assistant General at the Augustinian Curia in Rome. In this international role, he was responsible for overseeing and supporting the Order across the Asia-Pacific region, providing him with a unique global perspective on the Augustinian charism.

His election as Prior Provincial marks a significant new chapter of leadership. Known for his collaborative approach and deep commitment to Augustinian community life, Fr. Tony’s return to this role is a testament to his dedication to the mission of the Church and the Order.
