Ange Le Proust: diocesan survey on Augustinian woman with “joyful spirit” and “generous service to those most in need” concludes

In the parish church of Saint John the Baptist, just a few kilometers from Paris, the diocesan investigation concerning the cause for beatification and canonization of the Servant of God Ange Le Proust, a professed priest of the Order of Saint Augustine and founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Thomas of Villanova, was concluded.

The final session was presided over by the Vicar General of the Diocese of Nanterre, representing His Excellency Monsignor Matthieu Rougé, Bishop of Nanterre, with the participation of the members of the ecclesiastical tribunal, the diocesan chancellor, and the General Postulator of the Order, Fr. Josef Sciberras, OSA.

The celebration gathered a large number of faithful, as reported by the General Postulation. Among those present were Mother Marie José Villain STV, Superior General of the Augustinian Sisters of Saint Thomas of Villanova, along with a substantial group of nuns, members of the diocesan clergy, friends of the Congregation, and devotees of the Servant of God.

The event began with a Holy Mass of thanksgiving for the life and work of the Servant of God. During his homily, the Vicar General highlighted the radiant testimony of Father Le Proust, especially his generous service to those most in need, carried out with a joyful spirit and evangelical dedication. He further emphasized how Father Le Proust allowed himself to be shaped by the Augustinian charism, growing day by day on the path to holiness.

Following the Mass, in the adjacent chapel of the Annunciation, the closing session of the investigation took place, during which the volumes containing the procedural acts were properly sealed and entrusted to the Postulator. He will be responsible for transmitting them to the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, thus initiating the Roman phase of the cause.

With the closure of the diocesan phase, the cause of the Servant of God Ange Le Proust now enters its next stage of study and discernment before the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, where the collected documentation will be examined following the canonical norms currently in force.
